when i have herpes today
nobody even bothers to ask if i’m in pain
it’s there on my ass
itching
hurting a bit
but most of all getting on my nerves
if it gets too much
i no longer go to hospital
really sick old ladies will no longer tell me that i can’t endure anything
i shall endure
wear it on my ass
and keep smiling at meetings
i decided
that from now on
my herpes
will be just mine
and perhaps of some sexual partner
anyway, if i can quote my dear friend, playwright milan marković – ima i u tome
nešto lepo - «there’s something nice in all of this too ...

Simona Semenič has participated in a number of theatre projects, both as a dramaturge and co-author. Her performance pieces include …SheSaid (directed by Ivan Talijančić) as well as Polna Pest Praznih Rok and Solo Brez Talona (both directed by Rok Vevar). In addition to being the author of such dramas as Solo Brez Talona, Več, 24 ur, Loving Willy and Nogavice, Simona Semenič also directed an adaptation of the performance piece Endless Medication, and manages the PreGlej programme, which is engaged in the development and international promotion of new Slovenian drama.
